Our client, a major operator based in Aberdeen has a requirement for a Lead Completions Engineer on a PAYE / Agency Worker contract. The role will be based in Aberdeen and offers hybrid working.

ROLE

Within technically challenging areas, with budgetary & time constraints, the job holder will play an important role in optimising well operations & ensuring that wells are fit for purpose by design & installation.  This is critical to achieving the objectives of the Well Engineering function.

RESPONSINILITIES

  • Demonstrate personal commitment to SHEI&S Policies (Safety, Health, Environment, Integrity & Security)
  • Positively participate in teams of multi-disciplinary engineers providing completion engineering & testing solutions as part of the well delivery process e.g. well planning preparation, tubing stress analysis, material selection, tendering, purchasing, QA/QC, CWOP, peer reviews, risk assessment & execution of operations in a timely manner
  • Prepare completion / testing / workover programmes / end of well reports & co-ordinate other specialist inputs
  • Undertake technical studies & apply technical skills with innovative thinking to obtain positive outcomes: propose changes & / or innovations with properly identified risks & expected benefits
  • Optimise safe working practices in the development of operational programmes. Be familiar with derogations, management of change, company rules, HAZID / HAZOP etc.
  • Liaise with the Well Examiner to ensure programs are in line with the Well Examination Scheme
  • Accurately prepare budgets & durations required for projects or individual wells
  • Update & follow-up of the rig cost control for service contracts involved in completion / workover / testing operations
  • Update & follow up of equipment preparation for routine & non-routine operations
  • Manage assigned contracts through feedback (Service Quality Reporting & auditing) & performance monitoring (KPI’s) to optimise value for company & assess technological advancements available to improve working techniques
  • Actively promote “experience” within the department, supervise & coach entry level engineers
  • Prepare statutory applications / notifications to external agencies as required to satisfy the overall completion / testing programme
  • Prepare, review & evaluate tenders for the provision of completion / workover / testing related equipment and services.  Provide cost models, technical feedback final recommendations & presentations to contract management committee etc.  Be proficient with negotiation
  • Prepare & present as necessary to partners at relevant meetings & at forums to promote company abilities
  • Supervise completion / workover / testing operations on designated rigs.  Actively participate in the Drilling & Wells Improvement process. 
  • Liaise closely with Operations to support implementation of engineering work plans & provide live completion / testing engineering support
  • Follow up & improve well performance through collaborative evaluation & innovation.
  • Supervise small task forces comprising of junior engineers & contractors to resolve engineering/technical issues & lead operational implementation of solutions.  Participate in group wide (REX) feedback of new or innovative engineering solutions
  • Use experience & market intelligence to propose & evaluate new prospects as part of Performance & Growth requirements

REQUIREMENTS

  • The job holder will hold a BSc, BEng, MEng or MSc (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum) with a minimum of 10 years experience in well engineering & reasonable exposure to offshore operations
  • Will typically be a specialist in one function (core completions, wellheads, sand control, stimulation, DST etc.) with exposure to or understanding of well performance / reservoir knowledge
  • Will obtain & improve organisational skills to prioritise and manage a heavy workload in a rapidly changing environment
  • Will be committed to developing skills and experience in technical disciplines e.g. well completion design, well architecture calculations etc. 
  • Will have good computer skills, especially Microsoft programs, drawing packages, WellCat (or other) & other typical packages
