Our Client is looking for a Structures Team Manager for a permanent position, located in Westhill, Aberdeen.

Please Note: Based in the Aberdeen (Westhill) office. May be required to travel to other offices, sites, offshore and client locations when required.

To provide leadership in the delivery of the design and analysis of all permanent subsea structures, Seafastening, vessel modifications, temporary installation aids and flexible riser ancillaries undertaken by the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Seafastening of installation equipment on company operated vessels
  • Design of flexible riser ancillaries (Riser Hang off Systems, Bend Stiffener Connectors, Riser Clamps Mid Water Arches, Tether Systems etc)
  • Design of permanent subsea structures (Manifolds, Bell Mouths, Riser Clamps, SSIVs, etc.)
  • Design of temporary installation aides
  • Structures lift and installation analysis
  • Design review and assurance of all structural work subcontracted by company.
  • Quality of deliverables from the structures team.
  • Timely delivery of reports, calculations and drawings from the structures team
  • Development of technical and behavioural competence of the engineers within the structures team
  • Development of working practices and tools that improve the performance and delivery of the structures team
  • Management of workscopes undertaken by external consultants on behalf of the structures team

Education, Qualifications & Experience

Must have:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Aeronautical)
  • Wide ranging knowledge of Structural and Subsea Engineering
  • People leadership skills
  • Proven technical track record in the design of subsea and vessel mounted structures
  • Proven strong technical track record of structures lift and installation analysis
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Team Player
  • Customer focus
  • Self motivated with a drive for results and improvement
  • Ability to manage change
  • Good computer literacy (e.g. in MS Office) including a proven track record in Ansys FE analysis & FS2000
  • A detailed understanding of all relevant design codes
  • Full command of the English Language.

Nice to have:

  • Post graduate degree (M.Sc or Ph.D) in Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer
  • A background in delivering subsea projects, naval architecture, piping design and flexible riser ancillary equipment
