Senior Planning Engineer

Our Client is looking for a Senior Planning Engineer, a contract position based in Aberdeen.

The role is for a Senior Planning Engineer to support the Project Management Team to delivery and maintain a standard, consistent and realistic project plan reflecting the assessed risk parameters for each project.
They will drive, manage and ensure completeness of the development of the activities, logic, resources and progress for the integrated project schedule, leading to the creation of the baseline and its subsequent maintenance.
The role requires close working with the project team, discipline engineers and counterparts in the Contractors organisations. It also requires a confident communicator, both internally and externally. He/she will enhance the Company’s position in technical discussion through their professionalism and technical understanding.

The position will report to the Project Services Manager.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead by example in all matters related to HSE.
• Support Goal Zero through visible compliance with the Life Saving Rules.

• Instigate, develop and manage the planning and progress monitoring procedures to ensure that each element of the project performs the processes in a timely and consistent manner.
• Own the overall schedule monthly progress update, forecast, critical path and trend analyses.
• Develop status reporting framework and implement throughout the planning hierarchy.
• Provide regular and comprehensive schedule status reports to Project Management.
• Review scope change requests for the impact on schedules and the critical path of the project.
• Consolidate the impact of approved changes and any deviations from the key project targets and milestones, including productivity monitoring and “What if scenarios” to aid project management decision-making.
• Liaise with and challenge Senior Project Engineering and contracting companies to ensure proper understanding of the key schedule sensitivities and drivers.
• Contribute to the development of the project’s risk profiles, deterministic and probabilistic analysis methods
• Provide input as appropriate to stage gate and corporate governance and assurance activity

Education, Qualifications & Experience

• Oil & Gas Industry Experience including Planning on execution of upstream projects (on and offshore)
• Qualifications: Degree/Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in resource loadings, constraints and schedule optimisation.
• A working knowledge of Primavera (P6) is essential.
• Expert use of MS Office packages (specifically excel).
• The candidate will have broad technical understanding and commercial knowledge.
• The ability to work within a multi-disciplinary matrix team is essential.
• Ability to operate in the external environment, with various assets, contractors and co-venturers
