Senior Petroleum Engineer (3-4 month contract)

Our Client is looking for a Senior Petroleum Engineer for a 3 – 4 month contract position, Located in Aberdeen


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with multidisciplinary team (operations, subsurface, wells and commercial) teams to ensure production is fully optimised via well, reservoir and facility surveillance.
  • Build, maintain and use appropriate petroleum engineering tools e.g. Prosper, GAP, etc.
  • Assist with the generation of Short Term Production Forecasts and work with asset team to deliver the business plan and forecasts
  • Responsible for maintaining the well choke within the production system choke model and ensuring losses and locked-in potentials are properly managed for improved performance
  • Work with subsurface and well engineering to identify and mature potential well interventions to increase production and/or gather critical information
  • Work with subsurface and drilling teams to optimise completion design for new wells and workover strategy
  • Be responsible for management of production data, identifying, justifying and implementing improvements including completion of short term production forecasts
  • Interface with operations personnel to ensure subsurface requirements are delivered e.g. during well operations
  • Required to go offshore when required during critical well operations or workovers

  • Demonstrate experience in a production environment in a Petroleum Engineering, Production Technology or Well Engineering capacity. 
  • Substantial oil industry experience
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas operations, petroleum geology, petrophysics and reservoir engineering techniques is essential as the position involves work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Offshore experience essential, ideally with well completions and interventions



  • Degree qualified – relevant engineering degree
  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for learning and continuous personal and professional development


  • Petroleum Engineering degree would be advantageous
  • Offshore survival and medical certification
