Our client, an operator based in Aberdeen is recruiting for a Senior Inspection Engineer on a long-term contract basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • This position sits within the maintenance and inspection department of the asset and provides technical/engineering advice and support to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of all planned and unplanned inspection activities for Asset.  
  • Supporting the Asset Lead Inspection Engineer with input to creating and monitoring budgets.
  • Act as focal Point for contractor representatives, equipment suppliers, verification authority and other industry technical contacts.  

SECE, verification & Assurance

  • Ensure all inspection work is carried out in accordance with the approved procedures and in accordance with the performance standard requirements and OIAVS.
  • Define and continuously maintain the means of inspection assurance activities required to achieve and maintain the performance standards for safety critical equipment over the asset life cycle.
  • Provide necessary input to and participate in safety studies e.g. HAZOPS /HAZID / ORA / SARA.
  • Provide support to asset activities related to discipline to ensure that affiliate procedures and company referential is met.

 

BUDGET

  • Provide input to annual discipline budget based on planned activities and historical emergent work.
  • Meet the requirements of the control process within discipline budget for routine and non-routine jobs and modifications.
  • Provide forewarning and justification before breaking in any exceptional activities to the annual budget.
  • Approval of new material requisitions through the Company tools.
  • Report periodic reviews of budget spending to Asset Lead Inspection Engineer and ensure all inspection activities are optimised.

 

CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

  • Develop positive and constructive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Identify opportunities to improve contractor/supplier performance, reduce costs and improve the quality of services/products supplied.
  • Provide technical input to contract tenders and negotiations relating to maintenance services. Contribute to SQM meetings and vendor/contractor audits.
  • When applicable, act as Contract Representative on specific project/work scopes and contracts, managing the co-ordination of, and interface between, onshore/site/offshore teams/contractors ensuring effective communication and understanding between appropriate parties.
  • Ensure all hired and purchased inspection equipment is maintained, calibrated and available when required and ensure that consumables are replenished to meet the rate of consumption. Ensure that a review of spares against criticality is carried out periodically to mitigate risks from single point failures.

 

INSPECTION ENGINEERING

  • Ensure that inspection activities are appropriately prioritised and planned within CMMS then scheduled and managed within the Assets’ operations & maintenance plans.
  • Manage the onshore and offshore teams to deliver inspection plans safely and efficiently ensuring accurate condition reporting is completed, reviewed, endorsed and actioned in accordance with statutory/company standards and relevant procedures.
  • Ensure that inspection plans and work scopes apply appropriate inspection and NDT techniques providing high level of probability of detection of credible degradation threats.
  • Ensure that all inspection and NDT results are analysed, communicated and managed in accordance with the Anomaly Management Strategy. Perform anomaly assessments and fitness for service assessments, taking actions appropriate to those findings and reporting all concerns to the Lead Inspection Engineer, Discipline Technical Authority and other relevant parties within the Asset.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies and procedures for the maintenance, inspection and operation of plant/equipment to ensure that all plant and equipment meets continued assurance, verification and compliance requirements.
  • Apply LEAN process to optimise maintenance in accordance with minimum maintenance guidelines.
  • Issue and review the required PM master data changes to optimize the preventive maintenance activities.
  • Report maintenance, integrity and inspection KPI’s that drives Asset improvement for work management.
  • Ensure that condition monitoring and remote inspection equipment is being utilised effectively to reduce periodic intrusive maintenance and inspection and to meet the requirements of the condition monitoring strategy.

 

TECHNICAL

  • Work within a team of multi-discipline engineers, providing work/project progress, agreeing priorities and time schedule.
  • Provide specialist technical/engineering advice and guidance to tier 1 and offshore personnel on the operation and maintenance of plant/equipment ensuring highest safety standards, a timely response to technical engineering queries and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Contribute to incident are investigations and complete incident actions as appropriate. Provide technical input to RCA process and ownership of actions that prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct ad-hoc technical surveys on site/offshore and at vendor/repair locations, providing detailed technical reports identifying problems and solutions and ensuring optimum performance from contractors.
  • Verify that maintenance and inspection strategies being executed are optimal for cost and reliability to meet the Asset availability targets as per the RAM and production efficiency targets
  • Prepare/Review scopes of inspection work, ensuring they are appropriate, cost-effective, documented, executed and closed out with new or updated information added to SAP in accordance with statutory/Company standards.
  • Take ownership of inspection activities that are complex in nature as a result of having high expenditure, being technically challenging or deemed a high risk to the business.
  • Member or Emergency Response Team as required

Education, Qualifications & Experience

  • Suitable qualifications in Engineering/Inspection Discipline.
  • Experience in Inspection in the oil & gas industry, including offshore/site experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of legislation/regulations relevant to discipline.
  • Significant knowledge of offshore/terminal plant and associated process, equipment, and technologies.
  • Recognised expertise in Inspection.
