Safety Advisor

Our Client is looking for a Safety Advisor, on a permanent basis, location in Aberdeen.
• Providing comprehensive operational Health and Safety support for offshore sites taking into account specific operational constraints and regulatory requirements
• Monitoring, maintaining and improving working practice across the assets.
• Required to travel frequently to site as part of their duties to conduct safety briefings, training, inspections, audits and general communication activities as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing direction and technical guidance, checking work/project progress and supporting site based HSE professionals with work on common objectives. This will require spending time on the operational site during roll-out and implementation.
  • Ensuring occupational health and safety processes are effectively controlled (e.g. accommodation hygiene, potable water management, noise, COSHH, radioactive materials, health surveillance).
  • Conducting audits and worksite monitoring activities to support the asset HSEQ plan
  • Providing HSE support to shared services under Asset responsibility
  • Reviewing and producing the relevant procedures and related training materials for occupational health and safety  
  • Assisting in the preparation of emergency and bridging documents, dossiers for simultaneous operations between Operations and Construction/Operations and Drilling, Seismic and Operations
  • Assisting in the H&S evaluation of contractors during the ITT process, preparation of Contractor Interface documents and facilitation of contractor HSE forum
  • Conducting accident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Preparing asset HSE data for Senior Management
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements and Company rules related to HSE within the asset.
  • Implementing and improving Operational and Occupational Health and Safety procedures
  • Liaising with the HSE to ensure regulator interface is effective

Education, Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional safety/occupational health qualification is essential (minimum NEBOSHH certificate)
  • Relevant operational safety related experience in the upstream O & G sector.
  • Trained Auditor
  • Trained to lead investigations of significant accidents/incidents
  • Possess current Offshore Survival Certificate and OGUK medical
  • Capable of influencing key stakeholders
  • Representing the company at an industry level and leading/facilitating workgroups
  • Good knowledge of UK onshore and offshore health & safety legislation, sufficient to offer good advice, and be able to offer detailed advice.
