Engineering Manager

Our client, an Operator based in Aberdeen, is looking for an Engineering Manager on a permanent basis.

The role will involve strategic Leadership of the Engineering, Maintenance, Integrity and Brownfield Projects functions in support of safe and efficient operations as dictated by the Corporate HSE&A Policy, Corporate Major Accident Prevention Policy and Asset Safety Cases.
The Role also ensures that Duty Holder obligations are met in line with current UK Regulations, for all UK assets.

Key Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  1. Accountable for the development, implementation and up-keep of UKBU Engineering, Maintenance, Integrity and Brownfield Projects Management Systems in compliance with the the client’s Corporate Standards and UK Regulations.
  2. Accountable for the provision of a competent and capable Engineering, Maintenance, Integrity and Brownfield projects organisation to support UKBU Assets operations, maintenance and integrity management requirements, including lifecycle planning requirements. Ensures that resources are effectively and efficiently deployed to support Asset’s requirements.
  3. In collaboration with Supply Chain Management, responsible for the development and implementation of contracting strategies to support the delivery of planned Maintenance, Integrity and Brownfield activities. Also responsible for the development and implementation of a contractor technical performance management process to support the client’s vendor management processes.
  4. Responsible for promoting and ensuring the implementation of best practices and consistency of approach across all the client’s operated assets
  5. Responsible for assuring that the required Engineering, Maintenance, Integrity and Brownfield activities are included in the Budget and Planning process to ensure sustained safe and efficient delivery of business targets.
  6. Accountable for the collection and reporting of Key Performance Indicators associated with Engineering, Maintenance, Integrity and Brownfield activities, in line with the requirements of Premier corporate standards and UK Regulations.
  7. Responsible, in collaboration with the HSE Manager, for the planning and completion of annual audit, monitoring and assurance activities associated with Process Safety Management and in line with the client’s corporate standards and UK Regulations.
  8. Responsible, in collaboration with the Technical Services Manager, for the development and implementation of annual Continuous Improvement plans for the client’s UKBU Engineering, Maintenance, Integrity and Brownfield projects functions.
  9. Supports the UKBU Manager and the Corporate Team in technical due diligence activities associated with Business Development and growth opportunities.

Financial Accountability and Dimensions

  • Key dimensions of role: 3 Producing Assets for which the client is the Duty Holder, 2 Leased Assets that the client are Operator for but not Duty Holder, extensive subsea infrastructure and two fixed jackets.
  • Personnel supervised approx. ~15-20

Management Relationships (include direct / indirect reports, external parties)

  • Reports to the Technical Services Manager
  • Direct reports: Lead Discipline Engineers, Maintenance Team Lead, Integrity Team Lead and Brownfield Projects Team Lead
  • Works closely with Asset Managers, Operations Managers and the HSE Team
  • Also accesses shared resources in other Premier function groups as required
  • Liaises with other stakeholders including, service providers, key external contractors and government agencies (BEIS, OGA, HSE)
  • Deputises for the Technical Services Manager when required

Education, Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer, or equivalent experience
  • Tertiary Education at a technical level (e.g. Degree or MSc), or equivalent experience
  • Relevant operational and maintenance management/delivery experience
  • Qualified to visit and work offshore

Candidate Profile 

  • Safety leader who understands and champions the impact of Maintenance and Integrity management in managing Major Accident Hazards and Personal Safety.
  • Experience with oil and gas operations (topsides and subsea) and associated equipment classes and corresponding risks from a technical and practical stand-point.
  • Experience with operational maintenance and integrity management, delivery and optimisation. Sound appreciation of general maintenance and integrity, inspection and repair activities and techniques. Familiar with project/developments/operations and typical oil company processes.
  • Experience of brownfield modification process(s) in North Sea.
  • An experienced leader with a proven capability of co-ordinating a direct multi-disciplined team in support of multiple assets to deliver priorities.
  • Effectively develops the capability of the Engineering team to increase organisation effectiveness.
  • Able to challenge the status-quo and develop their team to seek continual improvement.
  • Demonstrates leadership in complex and uncertain situations and is able to deliver despite challenges.
  • An effective communicator (with both on & offshore colleagues) and ability to influence a variety of stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • Suggest and promote innovative solutions to offshore problems.
  • Experienced in leading change effectively.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems, Synergi, Maximo, Production Reporting systems, Regulatory HSE reporting requirements in UKCS
