Commercial Advisor

Our Client is looking for a Commercial Advisor for a permanent position, located in Aberdeen

The Commercial Advisor UK provides upstream commercial advice, negotiation and management of upstream commercial agreements for the UK Operations. The role is required to work closely with Legal, technical functions and with a number of third parties. The position reports to the Commercial Manager of Operated Assets

Key Responsibilities

General:

  • The Commercial Advisor is a team player responsible for negotiating and managing upstream commercial contracts at the best terms and within a defined risk mandate;
  • The Commercial Advisor maintains good relationships with joint venture partners, pipeline operators, 3rd party seeking a service or 3rd parties offering a service, the local government and other relevant parties;
  • The Commercial Advisor will be familiar with standard UK commercial practices, and the OGA expectations on MER-UK, net zero and on collaboration;
  • Work collaboratively with group central commercial teams and the local Aberdeen team;

Specific tasks:

  • Own and manage value and compliance under all the upstream commercial agreements in which involved in the UK;
  • Negotiate new commercial agreements, supported by legal and pulling the required input from relevant technical functions or OCM representatives as required;
  • Identify and realize commercial opportunities and mitigate commercial risks arising from the operational and commercial activities;
  • Understand and manage the rights, obligations and liabilities associated with live agreements and act upon them in a timely manner;
  • Develop and implement capacity booking strategies;
  • Communicating with authorities regarding commercial activities (if required);
  • Representing company in external discussions on market conditions and relevant terms and conditions to oil/liquids/ gas infrastructures;
  • Provide commercial support to BD team on complex projects as and when required primarily for the UK and possible outside of the UK;
  • The Commercial Advisor may participate in industry wide initiatives and represent company in such forums;
  • Contributes lessons and best practices to the Aberdeen team and the wider Commercial function across the organization.
  • The position is based in Aberdeen. Occasional travel must be expected.

Education, Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant university degree.
  • Understanding of the work and activities for which the job is providing support.
  • Extensive relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate with highly trained specialists and provide advice to others in an understandable way; ability to provide high level summary as well as zoom-in details when required.
  • Strong service orientation and project management skills; result focused.
  • Very good listening and communication skills.
