Our client, an Operator based in Aberdeen, has a requirement for a Buyer on a long-term contract basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify and execute Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders.
  • Minimise occurrences of negative business impacts – such as stock-outs, hot-shots and the like by providing appropriate support including into asset planning process.
  • Verify and challenge as appropriate Specifications, Quantities, Vendors, Delivery Times, Quoted Rates, Terms of purchase.
  • Pro-actively seek, realise and report value opportunities during the P2P cycle. Competitively bid and negotiate where appropriate.  Seek and progress opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support development of Buying best practice in the UKBU and the education of the user and supplier groups. Support development of a suite of tools, systems and processes to ensure best practice is established and maintained and occurrences of maverick procurement activity are minimised.
  • Timely liaison with Materials and Logistics personnel regarding delivery and receipt of materials and equipment.
  • Ensure understanding, application and leadership by example of all responsibilities with regard to the UKBUs procurement policy, processes and procedures.

Education, Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications

  • Higher Further education preferred
  • Suitable industry experience

Skills/Experience:

  • Relevant procurement experience within an Oil and Gas Operator, utilising online P2P system, ideally experienced across all O&G categories however a bias towards operations support is preferred.
  • An in-depth understanding and appreciation of the full P2P cycle and role within it.
  • Knowledge (e.g. systems, software, procedures, regulations):
  • Fully competent in the use of Maximo as a buying tool.
  • Computer literate, with good hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Communicates openly and effectively and appropriately with a variety of stakeholders including external partners, teams, colleagues and contacts.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with stakeholders. Works effectively within a team or work group as appropriate.
  • Solves work-related problems effectively with support as required.
  • Provides support and contributes to the performance of the business.
  • Manages own workload with support sought where appropriate.
  • Takes ownership of own performance and development.
