FULL DESCRIPTION

Our client in looking for an Accountant for a permanent position, located in Aberdeen.

Role:

To provide support to the finance team and maintain the financial ledgers of multiple entities of the group across the globe and produce regular and accurate reporting whilst meeting deadlines and ensuring adequate controls and processes are being followed. 

Responsibilities:

Nominal Ledger

  • Preparation and posting of prepayments and accruals
  • Reconciliation, review and maintenance of balance sheet accounts
  • Fixed asset maintenance, reconciliation and review
  • P&L review and variance analysis

Purchase Ledger

  • Assist AP where necessary ensuring accurate coding in the GL with appropriate dimensions

Sales Ledger

  • Assist AR with queries such as VAT/Tax treatment, revenue recognition and coding

Inventory

  • Assist in stock counts and the maintenance of inventory held in multiple locations and entities

Tax and GST

  • Preparation and filing of VAT/sales tax returns for multiple entities across the globe within prescribed deadlines

National Statistics

  • Responsible for any National Statistics returns ensuring accurate data is reported in a timely manner

Tenders

  • Provide information for tenders as and when required, ensuring accurate data is provided within strict deadlines
  • Responsible for applying for and providing any bank guarantees required as part of the tender or award process

Other

  • Prepare and post intercompany invoices
  • Assist Finance Manager with monthly/quarterly reporting
  • Produce relevant reports when requested by senior management
  • Compilation of audit schedules and assist with audit queries
  • Assist other departments with finance-related queries
  • Any other ad-hoc requirements

Requirements:

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Part-qualified in recognized accounting qualification or finance-related degree plus relevant experience.

Preferred: 

  • Previous experience in a similar role

Experience

Essential:

  • Up to date knowledge of current financial law, accounting principles and basic internal controls
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently
  • Good knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office especially Excel

Preferred: 

  • Good ERP systems knowledge, specifically with order to cash process
  • Experience of multi-currency transactions and foreign currency revaluation
  • Ability to travel if required

  • Problem solving approach and a ‘get it right first time’ attitude
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and good teamwork skills
  • Strong ability to perform well under pressure of a high and varied workload, tight deadlines and changing job priorities
